I received the "Chronicles" VHS as a gift a long time ago, but naturally, who uses a VCR nowadays? This was a hard find, being almost 20 years old, but we took the plunge. It contains two more videos than the original source, both from Grace Under Pressure, a favorite album. Judging from their biographies, Rush had a love-hate relationship with the MTV-style video format, and the late '70s / early '80s clips were studio/live footage rather than commercials. "Subdivisions" is really their first MTV-oriented video, and it was memorable for its period theme. The '80s are evident throughout these videos, including shoulder pads for Geddy, Alex's "Miami Vice" look, and Neil's rat-tail. Lots of fun for those of us who really grew up in this decade! If there is a fault, I should liked to have had the (admittedly cheesy) videos for "Countdown" and "The Body Electric" for completion's sake. Also, I am sure they could have scrounged something for the Permanent Waves album, which I believe was equal (if not superior) to the well-represented Moving Pictures. But it's not the band's fault and it does not affect the quality of the DVD.
